Unpack The Extender
In the box, with the Netgear EAX20 range extender you’ll also get a power adapter. In addition to this, a user guide is also given. Unpack the box very carefully and take out the EAX20 extender.
Front Panel
Front panel of the device contains LEDs. These LEDs will help the user to know their device working pattern. On the front you’ll find:
- Ethernet LED that shows the ethernet cable connection with the device or not.
- 5 GHz LED that depicts whether the device is operating at 5GHz frequency.
- 2.4 GHz LED that depicts whether the device is operating at 2.4GHz frequency.
- Router LED that shows the connection between the extender and the router.
- WPS LED that shows the WPS connection status while setting the device using the WPS button.
- Power LED that indicates the device power is on or not.
Back panel
On the back panel of the device, you will find a reset button, four Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 LAN ports and a DC power connector port. Reset button can reset your device configuration back to the factory settings. Ethernet ports can connect your extender directly to LAN devices. Power connector port is used to connect the power adapter and start the device.
Netgear EAX20 Installation
You have to install your extender before commencing Netgear EAX20 Setup. Installation includes placement and connecting the device to power. While setup the device proximity is needed. You have to keep the device next to the main host network device. Once the setup is complete, you can change the placement and boost your network range. You have to install a Nighthawk app in your mobile or tablet device to do app based setup. You can use an android as well as an IOS device to install the app. The application is easily available on both google play store as well as app store. - Connect your mobile with the extender network and then open the app.
- Follow the on screen guide and create your account on the app.
- Next you can follow the screen instructions and connect it with your router network.
- Once completed, reposition the device to a new location.
WPS
To use the WPS button method, your home router should also have a WPS button. This method is less time consuming and most convenient to follow.
- Press the WPS button on the Netgear EAX20 range extender device firstly.
- Within the next two minutes, locate and press the WPS of your existing home network router device.
- Wait for about 10 minutes and let the Netgear EAX20 setup complete.
- Thereafter you can test the network by connecting to the extender SSID.
Once the WPS based connection completes, your extender SSID will change to the same as your router’s id with _EXT. To use the network you need to provide the password too. The password is also the same as your router’s network password.
Web Browser
- To move with a web based method, you need a computer or laptop device.
- Connect it with the “NETGEAR_EXT” extender network and then rush to a web browser
- Afterwards, search for http://www.mywifiext.net/ and login page will open on the screen
- Netgear installation assistant will guide you to complete the Netgear EAX20 setup.
- Follow the on screen guide and create your account.
- Afterwards, choose the range extender mode and click next.
- Provide your existing network information and connect to the router device.
