Unpack the Device
With the Netgear EX6200 extender device, you’ll also get a power adapter, a snap on stand, four rubber feets and a user guide. Carefully unpack the extender device and take out your EX6200 device.
Top & Front Panel
On the top side of the extender device you’ll see different LED Lights. These LEDs include 2.4 GHz Link Rate LED, 5 GHz Link Rate LED, Device to Extender LED, LAN LEDs, and USB LED. Each LED has a different role which you can understand more clearly while reading the Netgear EX6200 Setup. In addition to the LEDs on the front panel of the device you’ll find a USB port.
Rear Panel
On the rear panel of the device you’ll find a WPS button along with five ethernet ports, two preinstalled 5dBi antennas, restore factory settings button, power button and power connector port.

- Firstly you need to tighten the antenna by moving it in a clockwise direction.

Step By Step Netgear EX6200 Setup In Extender Mode
You can connect your Netgear EX6200 with your home network with two methods. Both the methods are easy but the WPS method is quicker also as compared to the web one. Just checkout the steps to follow via both the methods to do configuration.
Connect Using WPS
To connect via WPS method you just need a router device with WPS button. If your router supports WPS then you can configure your range extender in just 10 minutes. In the process you just need to press the WPS button on the range extender first. Thereafter you need to press the WPS on the router device with no time waste within two minutes. That’s it now, wait and let the process complete.
Connect Using Web
To connect by using a web method, you need a little more time. This involves following steps:
- Use Laptop, computer or mobile device that enables WiFi.
- Connect to the netgear extender network by browsing the WiFi settings.
- Thereafter go to a web browser of your choice and search for “http://www.mywifiext.net”
- Login page will open on the screen. Choose “new extender device setup”.
- Click on the next option and choose the WiFi Range Extender option
- Netgear Installation assistant will readily assist you in the process.
- Now just follow the on screen guide to move ahead and complete the configuration.
- Also don’t forget to change your SSID & Password as keeping default details can be a threat for your network.
- Afterwards you can relocate the device to enhance its performance.
Step By Step Netgear EX6200 Setup In Access Point Mode
- To use the device in access point mode, you need an ethernet cable to connect the device with the main host device.
- Insert the cable in the ethernet port of your router device and other end in the extender device.
- Use Laptop, computer or mobile device and connect to the netgear extender network by browsing the WiFi settings.
- Thereafter go to a web browser, search for “http://www.mywifiext.net” and the login page will open on the screen.
- If you are using the web page for the first time, create your account.
- Click on the next option and choose the Access Point option from there.
- Follow on screen instructions and complete the setup.
