How Do I Connect My AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender ?

AC1200 wifi range extender from Netgear is worth spending every penny. It features dual frequency bands and thus you get access to lightning fast and dependable wifi speeds of up to 1200 Mbps. Further the smart indicator alongside FastLane technology and availability of Ethernet port is worthy of highlighting. The setup can be done by any individual easily by simple push and connect method. But for your convenience we’ll be listing two different setup methods. One allows you to do deep configuration using advanced features. Whereas the second method is much quicker and simple. So without delay, let’s get to the point.

Installation Via WPS Button

The AC1200 range extender features a direct wall plug design. So start the setup by plugging the extender in an electrical socket which is closest to the router. Now power it on. The extender must boot up completely before you head towards the next step.

Now on your router find the WPS key. Push it and let the WPS LED blink. Thereafter within the time span of 120 seconds, locate as well as push the WPS button of the AC1200 extender. Its WPS light will also start flashing. Now you just have to hold on for the moment and with this the LEDs will stop flickering. Thus it indicates successful pairing of the router and the extender. Now all you have to do is realign the extender for better coverage.

Plug the AC1200 extender in an outlet which is in between the router and the wifi dead spot. Once you repower it, it will automatically sync to the router. Lastly, take your smart device. Activate its wifi. Pair to the new AC1200 network and move to the area of concern for checking the connectivity. If everything is correct, you’ll notice all the smart indicators of AC1200 turning green.

Using Web Browser For The Setup

For installation using a web browser you first need access to a few basic components. You need a smart device and details of your existing network which is the SSID and password. Now follow the below written setup guidance:

  • Plug the extender in the center of the router and the wifi dead spot. Press the power button. Let the extender’s power light glow all green.
  • Now grab your smart device. Head to Network Manager and toggle wifi. Pair to the network Netgear_EXT.
  • On the same device now launch internet explorer or other browser of your choice like chrome, firefox.
  • Go towards its URL field. Into it type mywifiext.net and hit enter.
  • Now you’ll be prompted to fill in the login details. Do so and click on Login. The accurate credentials are written in the user manual so rectify them from there.
  • As you now have access to the setup window, you’ll see the list of all nearby wifi networks. From this list find and click on the router’s network whose signals you are looking forward to extending. Thereafter, fill in the accurate password, review it and only then hit on Connect.
  • With this the setup completes. But before logging out of the setup window, you must scan for the pending updates. Keep the firmware updated for the best networking experience. Thereafter, alter the default login credentials. This will keep your AC1200 secure from outside threats. For better security, do not forget to enable WPA3 security encryption. And once you make these changes, bring them into effect by tapping on Save and Apply.
